Daily Reflection: Proverbs 3: 5-7 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
Sometimes we think that we know it all. We think because we have had many experiences, that we have had all experiences. But we haven’t. It is a common fact that our actions and reactions are based off of our perceptions, our past and our experiences. Rarely do we consider the perspectives of others in situations. Even rarer do we consider that we may not have all the facts.
The Bible tells us to trust in the Lord with all of our heart. That is a tall order. Why? Because we lean to our own understanding. The way we see things. The way we feel about things. The ways our past experiences have shaped things for us. When we lean to our own understanding we are telling God that we do not trust Him to send us His best blessing for us. When we lean to our own understanding we are letting our past sensory experiences dictate our future. Leaning to our own understanding blocks our blessings. It cuts us off and it shuts us off because we are closed to the possibilities of God.
The Bible also tells us to acknowledge Him in all our ways and He shall direct our path. Whatever situation we find ourselves in acknowledge God. Talk to Him. Tell Him all about it. All of our hopes, our dreams, our apprehensions, our trepidations, our fears. All of it. Then expect for Him to tell us what to do about it. God will never, ever steer us wrong. Not one single time. But we have to trust, lean, acknowledge and let Him direct our ways and our paths.
Prayer of Thanks: Lord help us to trust in you and on you. Lead, guide and direct our steps as well as our lives. Lord we know that whatever it is that you have on the horizon waiting for us is significantly better than what we are trusting in our own understanding. Lord help us to seek your ways for us. In Jesus name. Amen.
Thought for today: Trust, lean, acknowledge and then let Him do the directions.
