Cast Our Cares

December 7, 2017

Daily Reading: Psalm 68: 19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah

Do you know what it is like to be at an event and the only one with pockets? Everyone wants you to hold something, or put something in your pocket or pocketbook. When my children were smaller they were famous for this behavior it would go something like, “mom, hold my juice or mom hold this lollipop”, and sometimes today it is “ mom hold my keys.” You ever notice how full, heavy and bulging that your pockets get. I have noticed that this is how I break a lot of the handles on my pocketbooks. When we carry around person stuff we become responsible for it, that responsibility can begin to weigh us down. God knows that our burdens are so heavy that we struggle to carry them? He sees us leaning with our sacks filled with worry, doubt and unbelief. He notices our pocketbooks of despair and our suitcases full of hopelessness. He just wants us to give them to Him. God knows that we cannot bear the areas of this world, that’s why He is constantly telling us to cast our cares upon Him. God loves us, and He is concerned about whatever it is that we are concerned about.

Prayer of Thanks: Thank you Lord giving me a place where I can come and dump all of the things out of me that are weighing me down. Lord help me to recognize and refuse the additional baggage of others that often weighs me down. Amen

Though for the Day: Before you pick up someone else’s burdens gently tell them who it is that is carrying yours.
