Renew- to resume an activity after an interruption; to reestablish; to repeat an action or statement.
It doesn’t take much listening to the world to realize we need to renew our minds. All the constant talk of politics, discrimination, sexual assaults and extreme weather will completely wear out the most hopeful, if we are not careful. We must remember the world is a pretty dark place and we are called to let our lights shine.
The other component is that we should not look like the world. Our thoughts, actions and deeds should not look like those of them who are in the world.
It’s easy to see how one could get caught up in the talk and begin to feel overwhelmed and hopeless. Stop feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Relax. Put them back to the only one who can handle them. God wants us to cast all our cares unto him (1 Peter 5:7). The only way to renew your mind is to replace the worlds thought, deeds and actions with those of God.
Renew your mind. What were you doing before your thoughts were interrupted? Where you reading your Bible daily? Were you meditating? Were you praying? If not, get back to it. We can only renew our minds in God’s word. It’s the only way. Trust me I’ve tried the other options, and not only do they not work, they leave you in worse shape than you were before.
After you go back to where you were interrupted and get back on track transformation will occur. I promise if you keep seeking God you’ll see the renewal and transportation in your own life and in the lives of others around you. - So, go renew your mind.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
