“When You Know Better, You Do Better”
This morning, even before my feet hit the floor, my spirit was already stirring. I found myself thinking about how these North Carolina Republicans are working overtime trying to grab more power through this redistricting plan. And my first thought was, so this is what happens when people have power and control — they reach for even more.
But then I had to ask myself, what have they done with the power and control they already have? The truth hit me hard: instead of using it to build, they’ve used it to harm. They’ve sown division, deepened despair, and made life harder for the very people they were elected to serve. You’ve got all that power — and somehow manage to do worse with it? Now that’s crazy.
But as I lay there thinking, the Holy Spirit began to shift my focus. He reminded me of something I declared not long ago — I renounced being part of the 92%.
Now, hold on. Hear me out. I’m not part of the 92% who say, “I’m staying home, I’m not voting, I’m done,” or the ones who throw up their hands saying, “Let it all burn down.”
That’s not Kingdom talk. That’s not who we are. Holy Spirit checked me and said, “That kind of thinking doesn’t belong to the Kingdom. That’s the world’s ideology — not Mine.”
Because in the Kingdom:
1️⃣ We love — period. No disclaimers. No explanations.
2️⃣ We feed, clothe, visit, and care for others — the least, the lost, and the left out.
3️⃣ We fight for justice and mercy — not just when it’s easy or convenient.
4️⃣ And when we see a brother or sister in need — we don’t gossip about it, we meet the need. Full stop.
And that brought me right to 2 Timothy 3:13–14:
“But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.”
Because when you know better — you do better.
I refuse to sit back and watch the sacrifices of my ancestors — people who bled, marched, prayed, and fought for the rights we now take for granted — be trampled under apathy and anger. I will not hand over victory by staying silent, staying home, or staying bitter. That’s exactly what they want — and I won’t give it to them.
So if you see me out here fighting, serving, loving, praying, just know — I’m doing what the Kingdom requires. And I’m inviting you to pull up on me, lock arms, and join me. Because this is not the time to retreat — this is the time to rise..
